CHIEF Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti, today delved at length at Muslim politics of the world and asked Kashmiri youth to improve “defiled image of Islam” by helping her government to restore peace and stability in the “only Muslim majority State of India.”
While addressing youths in the summer capital here, the Chief Minister repeatedly appealed for peace and sought help of youths in establishing stability in the restive region. She went further and said, “help me in restoring peace, I will give you jobs in tourism.”
While giving example of Muslim insurgencies around the world to put her point across, she said, the US President, Donald Trump, has announced that he will not let Muslims enter his country. “That means earth is squeezing for Muslims. Islam is getting bad name and the every country is going after Muslims”, Mehbooba said.
She said countries like America and Germany were manufactures weapons. “Who uses these weapons manufactured by them? Muslims!"
"And it is said if Muslim kills a Muslim, if policeman is killed or if any human being is killed, it will take them to heaven. Will that heaven will be beautiful than this Kashmir. We have turned Kashmir into a hell.”
“Real Islam”, Mehbooba said, “is all about peace and culture.” “It is responsibility of youths of Jammu and Kashmir to show real face of Islam to people.”
“I am asking you to ensure peace here. If that happens, I will bring Prime Minister here to announce employment packages. Give me peace, I will provide you jobs in the tourism. Give me peace you will be get jobs for you in Public Health Engineering Department.”
She said in past two months 12 militants have "returned."
“I don’t say they have surrendered. It is their home coming.”
“In Kashmir only development is development of graveyards. I want to change it. I want build parks. Please help me. Give me peace for next four years”, the Chief Minister said.
She held previous government responsible for the present situation of uncertainty and said they didn’t carry forward “the mission of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed” when he left the government in 2005.
She said when the PDP formed the government in 2002, the situation changed and later Muzafferabad road was opened for Cross-LoC trade and travel. She claimed had the subsequent government’s carried the “peace building” of her father forward, Kashmir situation wouldn’t have gone so bad.
She justified her party’s alliance with the BJP even though calling it unpopular. She said her party didn’t ally with the Congress as the Congress in its ten year rule did nothing. “Neither the Congress held talks with Pakistan nor it held dialogue here”, she said. But the Chief Minister batted for the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying the Prime Minister, went to Pakistan but his “peace overtures’ were derailed by attacks like Pathankot.
