'Animal' Actor Siddhant Karnick Says Co-Actors Should Not Compete For Popularity In The Same Film

Actor Siddhant Karnick said that actors within the same project should not compete for popularity. He was last seen playing the role of Varun Malhotra in 'Animal.'

Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s ‘Animal’ has broken records and has collected ₹500 crores at the box office. Even after weeks of its release, the film continues to be a talking point among the audience. Actor Siddhant Karnick who was recently seen playing the role of Ranbir Kapoor’s brother-in-law has spoken up about the attention the actors received post the release of the film.

Speaking to Siddharth Kannan, the actor said, “Everyone got their own importance. Maybe the intensity was different. For example, Bobby Deol came for 15 minutes, but he’s the next big thing we’re talking about right after Ranbir. The cousins, that pind family, what a beautiful set-up… I don’t think actors within the same project should be competing for popularity. Film does well, everybody does well.”

Siddhant Karnick took the example of Bobby Deol’s character in the film and spoke about how it has made a lasting impact on the audience despite having less screen time. His statement comes across as a response to the online discourse which claims that Triptii Dimri overshadowed Rashmika Mandanna.

Mandanna played the lead role in ‘Animal’ as Geetanjali – Ranvijay’s wife. On the other hand, Dimri played the character of Zoya who had had a supporting role. Her performance was received well by the audience. Online fan pages are calling her the “national crush” after this role.

Siddhant Karnick also said that if actors can accept the love and praise showered by the audience online, they should also accept the trolling. He added that the audience has a fair demand of asking what they want to see in the movies. In the same interview, the actor admitted that he was smitten by Triptii Dimri on the sets, but his shy personality did not allow him to persuade her.
