'Oppenheimer's Costliest Ticket In India Sold For Whopping Rs 2,450 For First Day Show

Christopher Nolan's 'Oppenheimer' is one of the most anticipated movies of the year. It stars Cillian Murphy as American theoretical physicist J Robert Oppenheimer.

Christopher Nolan's 'Oppenheimer' is one of the most anticipated movies of the year. The fever is running high all across the globe. In India too moviegoers are waiting with bated breath for the movie to release in theatres on July 21. It will lock horns with Greta Gerwig's 'Barbie' starring Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie. 

As per reports, in India alone, the Cillian Murphy starrer has sold over 2 lakh tickets. The cost of the tickets is different in different cities of the country. The costliest ticket in India is priced at a whopping Rs 2,450 (excluding taxes) and it is sold out. People have just gone crazy and they want to witness 'Oppenheimer' on the first of its release.  The most expensive ticket is being sold in Mumbai, in PVR ICON: Phoenix Palladium, Lower Parel Mumbai and it's for a night show on Day 1. 

It is said that IMAX shows of 'Oppenheimer' begin as early as 12:01 am in Mumbai and the tickets are almost sold out. Reportedly, many IMAX theatres in the city are also offering early morning shows like 3:00 and 3:30 am, 7:30 and 8:00 am.

A report in 123Telugu.com states that 'Oppenheimer's might collect Rs 10-15 crore in India on Day 1. 

Nolan's 'Oppenheimer' will show the journey of J. Robert Oppenheimer, the 'father of the atomic bomb'. The film also stars Robert Downey Jr, Emily Blunt, Matt Damon and Florence Pugh among others. It is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J Robert Oppenheimer by Kai Bird and the late Martin J Sherwin.
