Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus 'Ponniyin Selvan: 2', which released recently, is doing what its predecessor did back in September 2022, which is clearly working wonders at the box-office.
The film, which released on April 28, has proved to be fruitful in the first weekend itself. Now, it has passed the all-important first Monday test too, and minted a double-digit collection on day four. It has earned Rs 24 crore on its fourth day, as reported by the industry tracker Sacnilk. With this, the film has minted the Rs 100 cr mark on the domestic front, and collected Rs 105.02 crore.
Worldwide, the film, which is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s five-part novel series, has joined the coveted Rs 200 cr mark. Actor Chiyaan Vikram shared on Twitter, “Breaking barriers & soaring high. ⚔️ #ps2 #PonniyinSelvan2.” Lyca Productions too tweeted, “Breaking barriers and conquering the globe! #PS2 soars high and crosses over 200 crores worldwide!”
With no competition in sight and a great word of mouth, ‘Ponniyin Selvan 2’ is expected to only see good numbers in the coming days.
The film also stars Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prakash Raj, Jayaram, Prabhu, R Sarathkumar, Parthiban, Rahman, and Vikram Prabhu.
