In his career, Ranveer Singh has portrayed memorable characters, showcasing his prolific range as a powerhouse performer and bankable star by delivering blockbusters at the box-office. Even though his last 3 films didn’t work at the box-office (‘83’, ‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar’, ‘Cirkus’), it is his latest film ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ which has brought him back to the big numbers.
Riding high on the humongous success of the film, Ranveer Singh is walking away with huge accolades with audiences and critics liking the performance equally well. While he is known for his successful track record, when it comes to acting, nothing beats his one-of-a-kind epic monologues and impactful dialogues.
Yeah yeah, it’s true that Kartik Aaryan is the Monologue King of Bollywood, but that doesn’t mean that Ranveer Singh isn’t equally good.

One of the initial hits of his career helmed by the maverick Sanjay Leela Bhansali, that made the industry and audience sit up and take notice of this powerhouse of talent waiting to explode! Ranveer’s performance as Gujarati Romeo and flamboyance made the female populace go weak in their knees. He portrayed the rustic rogue with a contemporary charm, especially his introduction scene where he tries to convince his Rajaadi community of a situation and the conviction with which he does that is truly commendable.
Yet another remarkable performance by Ranveer and this time again directed by the one and only Sanjay Leela Bhansali! Singh’s rendition of Bajirao is grand and intimate; he successfully managed to portray a leader with the fragility of a lover and out of one of the best scenes from the movie is the one when his character enters the camp of the enemy (portrayed by Raza Murad) requesting him to surrender. The long monologue that he recites still give us goosebumps when he walks towards his enemy with conviction and determination in his eyes!
Easily one of the most menacing on-screen characters that have managed to make madness look so exotic, Singh’s performance as the sinister Afghan ruler Alauddin Khilji walked away with all the accolades with his terrific performance. One of the most memorable scenes in the film is the face-off between Khilji and Maharaja Rawal Ratan Singh (Shahid Kapoor) as Khilji enters the latter’s kingdom as his guest and the one upmanship game that follows between the two.
Ranveer’s boyish earnestness to create Kabir Mehra in Zoya Akhtar’s ensemble is truly commendable. He portrays a rich brat who strives to use love as a catalyst to transcend his inherited identity, especially in the scene where he gets fed up and forces his family to confront each other in a hospital room where he confesses his love for the girl he likes.
It is perhaps the most interesting and hilarious scene in the film. The way Ranveer starts and puts ahead all the points is what exactly is needed at that point of time in the film. Ranveer played his character Rocky Randhawa to the T and brilliantly showcased his anger and helplessness in front of the family and profoundly delivered every emotion that indeed left the audience feeling it to its core. Remember the dialogue, “Main baahen phailaake khada hu aur koi bhasad ho to aake gale pad le… main kaise na bolu behen di, main dilli se hu!”
