After completing his basic military training, BTS' V has embarked to start his active military service.
On January 16, BTS' V finished his basic five-week training at the Nonsan Training Centre. Not only that, he was also awarded as one of the six 'elite' trainees out of 200 recruits because of his excellent performance.
For those unversed, all fit, healthy South Korean men have to undergo mandatory military service in the Army. And on December 11, 2023, V along with his BTS bandmate RM, enrolled in the Army.
Being in the military, BTS fans are unable to get the highly-awaited updates about the members serving. But, now one update has surfaced and gone viral on the internet that concerns V, whose real name is Kim Tae-hyung. The 'Blue' singer was spotted at a railway station to catch a train to Jonghaenggyo Bridge to now enroll in the Army General Administration School. He was dressed, top to bottom, in his military uniform.
Tae-hyung is the only one out of his bandmates who has opted to join the counter-terrorism unit, Special Task Force of the Capital Defense Command (aka Special Duty Team).
To be a part of the Force, the singer is required to undergo an additional three weeks of training at the Army General Administration School before finally being assigned to his unit. The newly established training facility is said to boast top-notch conditions, excellent amenities, and is extremely spacious. The School stands out as one of the best educational institutions for training military professionals with exceptional combat skills, and also cultivate strong leadership capabilities.
As per Allkpop, his training will not stop at physical fitness training. He will have to undergo "training in automatic target live ammunition, rappelling, preliminary rifle instruction (PRI), close-quarters battle (CQB), military police duties, and much more," under the guidance of expert personnel from the Navy, Army, Marine Corps, Air Force, and other branches.
But on the flip side, the 'Slow Dancing' crooner will have more freedom and perks here than the previous Centre. Trainees have access to television, are allowed three hours of phone usage during weekdays and twelve hours on weekends. The quality of food is also said to be much better.
Way before Tae-hyung left the Nonsan Army Training Centre, his fans put up banners along the route to his new training camp, which were full of congratulatory wishes and warm messages of love. They're all awaiting V's comeback in June 2025.
