The film has already surpassed the lifetime collections of the Ranbir Kapoor-Shraddha Kapoor starrer ‘Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar’.
Ever since Covid-19 hit, Bollywood witnessed a period of struggle with numerous films failing to rake in moolah at the box office. But Sudipto Sen’s controversial movie ‘The Kerala Story’ is now defying all odds to be a success. The film has not only emerged as the second biggest hit of the year, it has also surpassed the lifetime collections of the Ranbir Kapoor-Shraddha Kapoor starrer ‘Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar’ in just a fortnight.
‘The Kerala Story’ is now on the way to entering the Rs 200-crore club, and it will cross the mark on Monday, as per trade analyst Taran Adarsh. By doing so, the film will be the second Bollywood film after ‘Pathaan’ to cross the coveted number in 2023.
On Friday, the film collected Rs 6.60 crore on Friday, and saw its collection rise to Rs 9.15 crore on Saturday and Rs 11.50 crore on Sunday.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film has minted Rs 27 crore net in its third weekend, taking the total collection to over Rs 198 crore in just 17 days. Worldwide, the film has grossed over Rs 240 crore worldwide, crossing the lifetime total of Tu Jhooti Main Makkaar’s Rs 223 crore gross. Shah Rukh Khan’s hit ‘Pathaan’ is currently the highest-grossing Indian film of the year with over Rs 540 crore net collection.
'The Kerala Story' is produced, developed, and distributed by Sunshine Pictures which is owned by Vipul Amrutlal Shah. Adah Sharma leads the cast along with Yogita Bihani, Sonia Balani and Siddhi Idnani.
The Kerala Story is bankrolled by Sunshine Pictures Private Limited, founded by Vipul Amrutlal Shah who is the Producer, Creative Director, and the co-writer of the film, which is co-produced by Aashin A. Shah and directed by Sudipto Sen.
