Bobby Deol Reveals His Family's Reaction To His Villainous Performance In 'Animal'

Bobby Deol plays the antagonist in 'Animal'. The movie is directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and stars Ranbir Kapoor in the lead. The movie is creating a tsunami at the box office.

Sandeep Reddy Vanga's directorial 'Animal' has taken the box office by storm. Starring Ranbir Kapoor as the lead, the movie is inching closer to the Rs 300 crore club. The actioner is high on violence, vulgarity, toxic masculinity and whatnot. As promised by Sandeep, he has delivered the most violent film. 'Animal' has been heavily criticised on social media. Bobby Deol plays the enemy of Ranbir in the film. His character Abrar Haque has all the vices. Bobby has been lauded for his performance even though he has limited screen time.

In an interview, Bobby opened up about the reaction of his family to 'Animal'. The actor said that his father Dharmendra, and his elder brother, Sunny Deol, haven't watched the film yet. But his mother Prakash Kaur watched it and she couldn't handle his death scene.

He told Pinkvilla, “My mom couldn’t handle my death scene. She was like, ‘Aisi film mat kiya kar tu, mujhse nahi dekha jaata (You shouldn’t do films like this, I can’t watch them).” I told her, ‘Look, I’m standing in front of you, I just played a part’. But she’s very happy… The amount of phone calls she’s getting, all her friends want to meet me. Something similar happened when Aashram released.”

In another interview with Bollywood Hungama, talking about his family's reaction, Bobby said, “They’re feeling exactly like the audience is reacting to me. They’re naturally biased, but they’ve always believed in me as an actor and they were waiting for the right film to come my way''.

On his wife and sons' reactions to his villainous performance, the 'Aashram' actor said, “My kids and my wife, I can only see happiness in their eyes. This is the first time I’ve noticed how I affect them as a father. With them, if I was happy I’d be happy, if I was sad I’d be sad, if I was angry I’d be angry… They think I’ve always deserved it, and they’ve seen my failures, and now they’re seeing my success.”

'Animal' also stars Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, Triptii Dimri, Suresh Oberoi, Shakti Kapoor and Prem Chopra among others.
