Ahmedabad girl Deepika Motwani became instantly famous when she did Jasbir Jassi’s music video ‘Dil Le Gayi Kudi Gujarat Di’. After the video, she completed her studies, got married and went to the US and after marriage didn’t work out, she returned to India and is doing theatre.

Talking about the song's immense popularity and how it has changed her life, she says, “While I appreciate the recognition and love for ‘Dil Le Gayi Kudi Gujarat Di,’ I believe it’s essential for artists to explore new avenues and showcase their versatility. While recreating the song could introduce it to a new audience, it’s crucial for me to evolve as an artist and not be solely defined by one piece of work. I embrace the song’s legacy and am focused on creating diverse and contemporary characters to engage with a broader audience, moving beyond the shadow of a single hit.”

Even though Deepika Motwani says she loves being part of showbiz, she adds that long shoots and erratic working hours have never gotten to her.

“Each time, I’d ask myself what it is that makes me feel like I am having fun, and the answer would always be modelling and acting. The kind of peace and joy I get on a shoot is something I can’t explain in words,” she says.

She adds, “If you are in the wrong profession, you will feel like it’s a struggle. I don’t feel like I am working also, even when I have long shoots. I don’t think you need an alternate profession. But yes, different hobbies and smart investments are needed by each individual, be it any profession.”

Ask her what she loves, and hates, about the industry, and she says, “I am just a few years old in the industry and the pros, for me, are that it’s fun. It’s a comfortable place for me and a source of satisfaction. The cons are that the working hours are not organised.”

Let’s wait and watch what she is set to come up with next.
