Does Akshay Kumar Have Plans To Join Politics? This Is What The Actor Has To Say!

Akshay Kumar has time and again been questioned whether he plans to venture into politics or not.

Akshay Kumar is currently seen in ‘Mission Raniganj’. The film witnessed a decent start at the box office on October 6, but soon ended up facing challenges in getting the audiences to theatres. According to industry tracker Sachnilk, the film has so far minted a total of Rs 13.85 crore within four days of its release.

In a recent chat with India Today, the actor, who does about 4-5 films per year, was asked about his potential entry into politics, especially considering the themes of some of his films. To which he said that he has no political ambitions for now, but cannot be sure what happens in the future. 

When asked about the prospect of shifting to politics, Akshay Kumar mentioned, “No, I am not joining politics. I don’t know what will happen in future but for now I am not joining politics. I am doing such films because I feel it’s important to bring such subjects in front of people. God has given me such a nice platform that I can do films and I can tell people what all has happened in our nation through my films, like that of Kesari, Samrat Prithviraj or any other film.”

During a 2022 interview with PTI, he was questioned about his political aspirations, to which he had said, “I am very happy making films… As an actor, I do whatever possible to take up social issues. I have produced 150 films. I produce commercial films, sometimes with social issues. I produce three-four films a year.”

As for his last release, ‘Mission Raniganj’, the film is based on a real-life incident in a coal mine in West Bengal where 64 mine workers were trapped following a flood. Directed by Tinu Suresh Desai and produced by Pooja Entertainment, the film showcases the remarkable rescue operation led by engineer Jaswant Singh Gill, who Akshay plays in the film.
