Here's How Mani Ratnam Playfully Responded To Shah Rukh Khan's Request For A Film

Shah Rukh Khan 'requested and begged' Mani Ratnam for a film and here's the latter's witty response.

During CNN-News18's event on Wednesday, Shah Rukh Khan gained attention for his speech for winning the 'Indian of the Year' award when he called himself 'Indian for all ages.' At the same event, filmmaker Mani Ratnam was also present. The two had a playful banter where they discussed the possibility of collaborating on a new project. Khan 'requested and begged' for another opportunity with Ratnam.

For the unversed, the two have worked on 'Dil Se' in 1998, which emerged as a superhit. Since then, the two did not team up to do another film.

Shah Rukh Khan told the filmmaker, "I'm requesting you, I'm begging you and I'm telling you every time to do a film with me. I swear, this time, I'll dance on top of the plane for 'Chaiyya Chaiyya' if you tell me... And, good evening Suhasini (Mani Ratnam's wife). I told you that time to tell him 'Shah Rukh, Shah Rukh' before he sleeps."

For those who don't know, 'Chaiyya Chaiyya' is an iconic dance song from the film, wherein Khan and Malaikaa Arora were seen dancing on top of a moving train.

Mani Ratnam cheekily replied with, "when he buys a plane... I'll do it."

Riding high on the success of his films 'Pathaan, 'Jawan,' and 'Dunki' last year, and how well they've done at box office collections, Khan, with wit, said, "Mani, let me just tell you, the way my films are doing...this plane is not far way." In response, the filmmaker laughed and said, "I'll bring it down to earth, don't worry."

SRK then proceeded to sing a song from the same film 'Jiya Jale' as he said, "I'm coming."

Towards the end of the event, Khan joked, "Thank you, Mani sir, for the film! March, I'll be there sir. Morning shift, 2 am," and walked away, spreading laughter all across the room.
