Ektaa Kapoor became the first Indian to win the International Emmy Directorate Award that was held in New York. With this, the TV czarina has added another feather in her cap.
Producer Ektaa Kapoor has scripted history as she has been honoured with the prestigious International Directorate Award at the 51st International Emmy Awards. The award ceremony was held in New York. It was presented by the renowned author and new-age leader, Deepak Chopra. With this Ektaa became the first Indian to win the International Emmy Directorate Award.
Vir Das won big for his stand-up 'Landing'. He shared the win with 'Derry Girls Season 3'. Shefali Shah (Delhi Crime 2) and Jim Sarbh (Rocket Boys) lost in their respective categories.
Ektaa is on cloud nine for her feat. Post her win, she said in a statement, “I’m delighted to receive the prestigious Emmys Directorate Award! It brings me immense joy and happiness to be honoured at a global scale, such as this. I’ve always wanted to tell stories because they give me a chance to be heard, seen and represented. Earlier, in a statement, President & CEO of the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, Bruce L Paisner had said, “Ektaa Kapoor has built Balaji into one of India’s foremost entertainment players with market leadership in the television content industry reaching mass audiences across India and South Asia with their long-running series and OTT platform. We look forward to honouring her remarkable career and influence on the television industry, with our Directorate Award.”
The TV czarina has produced some of the hit shows for television like 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhie Bahu Thi', 'Kkusum', 'Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii', 'Kasautii Zindagii Kay' and 'Pavitra Rishta' among others.
