Is Prabhas' 'Salaar' A Remake Of Prashanth Neel's 'Ugramm'? Producer Vijay Kiragandur Has THIS To Say

There have been reports that Prabhas' 'Salaar' is the remake of Prashanth Neel's Kannada film, 'Ugramm'. Now, producer Vijay Kiragandur has opened up about it.

Prabhas starrer 'Salaar' is one of the most-anticipated movies of 2023. 'Salaar: Part 1 - Ceasefire' trailer was unveiled recently and it amazed audiences. Directed by 'KGF' fame Prashanth Neel, 'Salaar: Part 1 - Ceasefire' is an out-and-out action flick which took about two years to make. There have been reports that 'Salaar' is the remake of Prashanth Neel's Kannada film, 'Ugramm'. Now, producer Vijay Kiragandur of Hombale Films has opened up about it. Read on to know.

Vijay Kiragandur has told Bollywood Hungama, "Prashanth Neel is the creator of both Ugramm and KGF. He’s aware of how to give a different product each time altogether. Hence, there’s no truth (to Ugramm rumours)."

In 'Salaar' trailer, we see a deep friendship between two boys (Prabhas and Sukumaran) and one among them makes a strong promise to be always there with the other, no matter what. 

Actor Prithviraj Sukumuran is making his Telugu debut with the film. It also stars Shruti Haasan, Jagapati Babu, Eshwari Rao, and Sriya Redd among others. 'Salaar' will hit the theatres worldwide on December 22 clashing with Shah Rukh Khan starrer 'Dunki'. Also, 'Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom' is releasing on the same date as 'Dunki'. 'Salaar' Part 2 is yet to go on floors. 

On why they chose December 22 as the release date, Vijay said, “We announced a date based on our beliefs,” and added, “We have been planning release dates according to astrology for a decade now and will continue to do so.”

Earlier, in an interview with Pinkvilla, Prashanth, while talking about the film said that it is a story of two friends who become the biggest enemies. ''Friendship is the core emotion of the film. We are going to show this journey of friends over the course of two films,'' he added.

While 'Ugramm' which released in 2014 is also about two friends. It starred Srimurali and Tilak Shekar in the lead roles.
