Jaideep Ahlawat, who is an actor par excellence himself, recently during an interview with Humans of Bombay, revealed how he forgot all his lines in front of Shah Rukh Khan for his first ever shot with the actor for the 2017 action thriller ‘Raees’.
Jaideep Ahlawat opened up how watching Shah Rukh Khan during ‘Raees’ shoot was the only time he was star struck in his life.
Jaideep Ahlawat, who is an actor par excellence himself, recently during an interview with Humans of Bombay, revealed how he forgot all his lines in front of Shah Rukh Khan for his first ever shot with the actor for the 2017 action thriller ‘Raees’.
Mentioning how he was “starstruck” as he shot with SRK, Jaideep said, “The call time for my first scene was 9.40 in the morning. I was sitting, when suddenly Khan sahab walked in and the whole atmosphere changed, and we greeted each other. It was all ok, I am trained for this (as an actor). I kept looking at him, not making it too obvious. Then we did the rehearsal, spoke our lines.”
‘Raees’ was the first collaboration between Shah Rukh and the ‘Paatal Lok’ actor, and Jaideep mentioned how he did the film “only for Shah Rukh Khan”.
Jaideep further stated how when the actual shoot kicked off, the “King Khan became the actor King Khan.” The actor said how he just kept looking at him, thinking, ‘I have seen this face millions of times!’. He added, “I became the audience, I forgot that I am an actor. I have been star struck only once in my life and it was with him.”
The actor also revealed how he couldn’t focus on the scene properly since he was in awe of watching Shah Rukh perform. Interestingly, SRK noticed it and asked the unit for a five-minute break, which got extended to 15-minute, and made Jaideep more comfortable enough with Shah Rukh to perform.
“Now, I am running ten seconds late (in my reaction). So of course, Khan sahab figured, he is such a big man. He knew that I had to first calm down, so that I could be normal. The five-minute break turned into 15-min and he just kept talking to me. Because of that conversation, I became comfortable in his presence and that scene was done in one take,” he said.
Jaideep, interestingly, said how SRK makes people feel “most important” when they talk to him, and now hopes that he gets a longer role to do with him.
“Anyone who has met him will say how he makes you feel like the most important person in the world if you are with him. You will be flattered,” he said.
Jaideep is currently waiting for the release of ‘Jaane Jaan’, which also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan and Vijay Verma. The Netflix thriller is directed by Sujoy Ghosh. Shah Rukh, meanwhile, is enjoying his box office success with his latest release ‘Jawan’.
