Radhika Apte: We Should Keep Making Sure That Women Get Equal Opportunity, Pay And Treatment

Radhika Apte is one of the finest actors we have in our industry. Without having a Godfather, she has come a long way in her career. Apte has done diverse and challenging roles and carved a niche for herself with her craft. She has proved her mettle in acting and every time she has something different to offer her audiences. 

Radhika was recently seen in 'Mrs Undercover' where she played an agent. Before the release of the comedy spy thriller, we had a conversation with her where she opened up about the changes she wants to see in the film industry, the rejections she faced and more. 

Over the years, we have seen films being made on women who were just seen as an accessory before. When we asked Radhika about the significant changes in the portrayal of women in the Indian film industry in recent times, she said, "I think as society changes...now more and more women are in every profession, they are playing equal parts to men, finally getting their dues. They are not yet completely equal but still better than before. Films are just a reflection of our society. The way society is changing, it's not just about on-screen, but even off-screen, women are doing a lot of other things. They are doing a lot of jobs. As society changes, we see films change."

Radhika also spoke about the changes she wants to see in the industry for women-led films. The 'Parched' actress said, "Already change is happening and we need to appreciate that also. We need to go the same way and keep making sure that women get equal opportunity, pay and treatment. It's not only in the film industry, it's all over the society I think."

When asked about facing rejections, Radhika said that one gets rejected for various reasons and added that it's "because there are so many talented actors and there is so much competition". "Rejection is a part of freelance work," she added.
