Rajeev Siddhartha speaks up about Valentine’s week. He reveals that he has fond memories of celebrating this festival of love. He also opens up about how people shouldn’t hold back before expressing their love for the people who matter the most to them.
Rajeev Siddhartha has been a prolific name when it comes to plays and shows. He has shown class in whatever he has picked up and that has only made him more elusive. With his brooding good looks, he is definitely someone who has been making girls go weak on their knees. Not just the women, but he did a show where he played a gay character ('Romil & Jugal'), and there has hardly been a representation of a gay character so perfectly to date by any other actor.
As we celebrate Valentine’s week, Rajeev Siddhartha speaks to Prateek Sur about the festival of love. He opens up about his ideas on romance, valentine’s week, and lots more. Excerpts:
Is Valentine's Day only about romantic love? Or is it a good occasion to celebrate friendship as well?
Well, traditionally Valentine's Day celebrates romantic love but if you think about it, the world just needs more love right now, be it of the romantic kind, or the kind you have for your friends, your parents or anyone else. It's good to have a day where you are reminded that love exists and that we should be celebrating it every day. We should be giving more of it to everyone around us.
What is your most treasured memory of this day?
I have very fond memories of this day. I mean just listing a few won't be doing justice to all of them but needless to say, it is always good to have a day where you can make your loved one feel special.
What is your view on celebrating Valentine's Day?
Well, love has to be celebrated every day but it's always good to have a day which reminds us about the existence of love. We, however, must take the time to make our romantic partners, loved ones and parents feel special every day. And if you forget this, there is always Valentine's Day to remind you.
What do you feel is the best romantic genre teleplay you did?
The most romantic teleplay that I have done is Zee Theatre's 'Love' which is an adaptation of George Bernard Shaw's 'Pygmalion' and captures the loneliness of a person post a heartbreak and how his life brightens up again when love enters his life unexpectedly.
