“The response to Satto has been very overwhelming since the film was declared a hit. The character has been appreciated and people who had never seen me in such a role are very surprised. I would like to thank the audience, they have accepted me and I hope in the future people will see me in these kinds of roles or different characters altogether,” he says.
From a comedy image to a dramatically opposite character is quite a transformation, he says, adding, “You live as an actor, and it's always there. It's only the makers who need to explore that dimension within you. If a person can perform comedy, they are generally a good actor. So, I personally feel the whole transformation for me was also very tough and challenging. For people to realise that I can be good not only at comedy but these kinds of roles is incredible for me and my journey.”
Talking about the kind of roles that he wants to take up now, he says, “Definitely, anything that I can carry on my shoulders. If not the main lead, but at least some role that keeps the story moving. I would look forward to such kinds of OTT characters. As OTT platforms have a lot of meaningful scripts so I am just banking on those kinds of roles.”
He adds, “Talking about my dream role, there's nothing as such but yes definitely to play one of the main protagonists or antagonists in any of the OTT web series or films.”
OTT is a boom for actors, he says, adding, “Yes, OTT is definitely a boom for the actors because now, you have real faces, you have real people and very good actors. So, the bar has been raised. The best part is now that the web series is moving out of Mumbai and they are being based at real locations. Now India is being seen properly and not what we used to see only in setups in Mumbai, in film city. This is giving a lot of views to these kinds of realistic OTT shows. It is the best time not only for the actors but the whole Indian film industry.”
