As Dussehra, the culmination of the nine-day Navratri celebration blankets the country in grand festivities and excitement, actor Romanch Mehta shared his reflections on this special occasion, reminisced about his childhood memories, and recalled about his culinary delights.

Romanch is known for his roles in the shows like ‘Kulfi Kumar Bajewala' and 'Kabhi Kabhie Ittefaq Sey’.

Talking about the same, he said: "Dussehra has a special place in my heart, brimming with cherished childhood recollections. The entire Navratri period, from fasting and Kanya Puja to the splendour of Dussehra, feels like a festive vacation.”

“I recall the dietary restrictions during Navratri, like steering clear of onions and garlic, and then, suddenly, it's Dussehra,” he said.

Speaking of his childhood memories, he said: "Ever since I was a child, I've always linked Navratri with the anticipation of Dussehra. It was a time for holidays and witnessing Ramlila at the Ramlila Ground in my hometown. We even indulged in playful adventures with toy bows and arrows, imagining ourselves as valiant figures akin to Lord Rama. These were the days before smartphones, and these memories are genuinely special."

Dussehra signifies the triumph of good over evil, and Romanch shared his experiences from his acting career, where he embodied this profound theme.

He remarked, "The notion of good conquering evil has been a guiding principle in my life. It's a message deeply embedded in the characters I've brought to life. For instance, when I portrayed roles from the Ramayana, like Ravana's son and Lavanasura, it was an opportunity to grasp the significance of Dussehra."

"Throughout my journey in acting, I've carried the ideals of goodness and the significance of steering clear of wrongdoing, inspired by the moral lessons of Dussehra. It's all about the belief that choosing good paves the way for positive outcomes, whereas wrongdoing begets consequences," he added.

He also expressed his admiration for the exuberant Durga Puja celebrations in Kolkata during Dussehra.

Emphasising on the necessity of gender equality and the empowerment of women, he said: "I've always been a staunch advocate for gender equality and the empowerment of women. Girls should have equal opportunities and access to education, not only in major cities but also in smaller towns. Supporting the empowerment of women is paramount, and I hope that this view gains more widespread support."
