Sara Ali Khan, who was last seen in ‘Atrangi Re’, claims that she is not afraid of recognising where she is wrong.
Sara Ali Khan, who debuted in 2018 with Abhishek Kapoor's romantic film ‘Kedarnath’, has been in showbiz for around five years. While she impressed the audience with films like ‘Simmba’ and her last outing ‘Atrangi Re’, she did receive lukewarm response for Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Love Aaj Kal 2’ and David Dhawan’s ‘Coolie No 1’.
However, she is one actress, who despite being so early in her career, has admitted to her flaws and acknowledged the high and lows of her career. When asked how she reached that stage quickly in her career, Sara told Outlook, “I think it is important because when I went on floors to shoot ‘Atrangi Re’, I was just coming off from ‘Love Aaj Kal 2’, which did not get the love it deserved. So I think the way to move forward is to first see the mirror, see that you have fallen in order to get up and keep going. The only rule of life is to keep going.”
She added, “I am not afraid of recognising where I am wrong, whether it's with the failure of a film. Agar pata hi nahi chala ki problem hai, toh problem ko sudharoge kaise. (If you are not aware of the problem, how will you solve it).”
Next up, the actress will next be seen in 'Gaslight', a psychological thriller which sees Sara essaying a specially abled character. The film’s teaser, which was released a couple of days back and featured the film’s leading cast – Sara, Vikrant Massey and Chitrangda Singh, was actually a dig on how the audience tends to stereotype actors. While Sara was considered to be the ‘glam doll’, Vikrant was touted to be a ‘small-town hero’.
When questioned if she has any apprehensions as an actor on how the audience has perceived her so far, Sara quipped, “I think especially after Rinku from ‘Atrangi Re’, and actually from the beginning, be it Mukku from ‘Kedarnath’, people did appreciate the fact that my debut film was not something you or the audience thought it would be. I don’t think ‘Atrangi re’ was a glam doll role either. I have tried to have a balance, and it has just happened with an aim to star in diverse and versatile characters. I think that's what's exciting about my job, for me.”
She signed off by saying that with her future projects too, “versatility and learning is what she looks for.”
‘Gaslight’, produced by Ramesh Taurani, Tips Films Ltd and Akshai Puri, 12th Street Entertainment and directed by Pavan Kirpalani, will drop on Disney+ Hotstar on March 31, 2023.
