Shreyas Talpade Looks Back At His Near-Fatal Heart Attack, Says ‘I Was Clinically Dead’

Shreyas Talpade was told by doctors he was smiling through the angioplasty, and kept asking forgiveness from Deepti.

Actor Shreyas Talpade sent shockwaves across the country recently when he suffered a heart attack. He even underwent an angioplasty post that, and is now recovering well. Now, in a recent interview, the actor talked about how he’d never been hospitalised before in his life, and that the health emergency actually made him realise that ‘jaan hai toh jahaan hai (health is wealth).’ For those caught unaware, he was rushed to the Andheri hospital last month, and his heart stopped beating for a full 10 minutes.

Speaking to The Times of India, Shreyas mentioned that he was ‘clinically dead’, and is now recuperating at home. He further noted that his family has a history of heart ailments, and he himself has been working consistently since the age of 20. Revealing how he had been feeling ‘extremely fatigued’ because of his hectic work schedule in the past couple of months, the actor said that he did take precautionary actions and underwent several tests.

Recalling the day he went into cardiac arrest, Shreyas said that he was working on the upcoming comedy film, ‘Welcome to the Jungle’, and was performing military exercises when he got the heart attack. “Suddenly, I felt breathless and my left hand started paining. I could barely walk to my vanity van and change my clothes,” the actor said.

He was soon rushed home, where his wife, Deepti, saw his condition and took him to the hospital. Since his car was stuck in traffic, he passed out on the way, but Deepti managed to get help, and he was given emergency treatment by the doctors. When he regained consciousness, the doctors informed him that he was smiling through the angioplasty, and kept asking forgiveness from Deepti.

Last but not the least, Shreyas said calling this experience a wake-up call would be ‘an understatement’, since he was ‘clinically dead’ for several minutes. He further urged people not to take their health for granted, and mentioned how regular doctor visits are important, because despite not smoking, drinking rarely, and following a healthy diet and lifestyle, he wasn’t spared.

“I’ve heard that post COVID, there have been many cases of healthy young people encountering heart issues,” he signed off while thanking his friends, family, and his ‘superhuman’ wife, Deepti.
