Shruti Haasan On Rising Trend Of Violent Films Like ‘Salaar’: Would Advocate For Knowing What You Are Watching

Actress Shruti Haasan talks about how violent films like Prashanth Neel's 'Salaar' impact the viewers.

Recently released 'Salaar Part 1: Ceasefire' has received immense praise and has already garnered crores in box office collections. Actress Shruti Haasan, who is starring in the film, has spoken about how audiences should be careful in choosing what they consume, as films today are completely soaked in violence. She expressed her views on how violent films like 'Salaar' impact viewers.

During a conversation with The Indian Express, the mental health advocate said that a film’s teaser reflects the theme of the entire film and it's the best way for audiences to determine whether they want to watch the film or not.

“I feel that cinema and music, there are different kinds of TV shows, different kinds of books, some depict violence, some don’t. Yes, I am a mental health advocate and the biggest thing I would advocate for is knowing what you are watching,” says the actress.

She further added, “A teaser for a film is like a disclaimer of content. It’s to know whether you are ready to watch that content. That discretion has to lie with the viewer and that does fall under the ability to judge one’s own mental state of mind. Some people enjoy fast-paced action or thrillers, some people are triggered by emotional drama. So, it’s really up to the viewer’s discretion.”

Shruti, who portrayed the role of Aadya in 'Salaar,' gave insights on her character. She said that her character “kind of goes into the Khansaar world, which is not a world she expected to find and that’s really interesting.”

The actress also revealed that her character is important to build up the storyline and pivotal especially to Deva's (portrayed by Prabhas) character.

Helmed by Prashanth Neel, 'Salaar' also stars Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran alongside Haasan.

In 2023 itself, Shruti Haasan has had three releases including 'Waltair Veerayya,' 'Veera Simha Reddy' and now, 'Salaar.' She recently announced her next venture, 'Dacoit,' alongside Adivi Sesh
