Zakir Khan Asks Hindi Filmmakers To Trust Hired Dialogue Writers: Don’t Force To Just Translate

Zakir Khan requested filmmakers to not make the dialogue writers translate English expressions in Hindi.

Actor-comedian Zakir Khan recently took to social media and requested the Hindi filmmakers to let the dialogue writers do their work instead of asking them to translate English language and its phrases into Hindi word by word, because sometimes it does not seem right. The standup comedian did not hint at any towards any particular filmmaker or film, but we wonder who he was talking about.

Zakir wrote on Instagram, “Dear film makers, when you hire a dialogue writer, let them write. Don’t force to just translate. An English expression is an “English Fu*king Expression” which can not be translated to Hindi word to word.”

He further asked filmmakers to “relax” as people who speak Hindi also understand a little bit of English, and it does not make sense to translate each and every phrase of English into Hindi. He added, “Also Hindi bolne wale log bahut saare words English mein bol lete hain. Toh dost relax! har word translate karvane ki zaroorat nahi hai. (Also, people who speak Hindi can also speak a lot of English words too. It is not necessary to translate every word).”

He further suggested filmmakers to ‘trust’ people whom they hire. “Maine jitna suna tha ki Film making is a collaborative process, Toh hire someone you trust. Ya phir English me hi bana lo. (Or make the film in English)” he wrote on Instagram. The comedian also quoted examples where words of English expressions were translated into Hindi word by word. “Egl: Mere toh Dono ulte pair hain, mai naach nahi sakti. Egg: Tumne bahut Aacha perfume pehna hai,” he signed off.

Zakir Khan is a known name in the standup comedy space with his shows like ‘Haq Se Single’, ‘Chacha Vidhayak Hain Humare’, ‘Kaksha Gyarvi’, and the recently released ‘Tathastu’.
