Benelli TRK 502, TRK 502X India Launch On February 18

The TRK 502 will be Benelli’s first adventure tourer to hit Indian roads

  • TRK 502 and TRK 502X will be brought to India as CKD units
  • The ADV bike will be offered in two variants
  • Base variant is expected to be priced around Rs 5 lakh (ex-showroom)
  • First new bike launch after the brand was relaunched by Mahavir Group

Benelli India will enter the adventure tourer segment in our country by riding in the new TRK 502. The Chinese-owned Italian brand is set to launch the TRK 502 and the TRK 502X on February 18. The Benelli TRK 502 was first showcased to Indian bikers at the 2016 Auto Expo and a test mule of the upcoming bike was spotted testing last month. The launch of the ADV was delayed after Benelli’s erstwhile partner, the DSK Group, ran into financial troubles. The company made a comeback into the Indian market a few months back when it signed a new venture with Adishwar Auto Ride India (AARI), a subsidiary of Hyderabad-based Mahavir Group. Sales and dealership expansion for Benelli will be handled by the Mahavir Group and the TRK 502 range will be brought to India via the CKD route.

The TRK 502 and TRK 502 X feature similar styling. But while the TRK 502 employs 17-inch alloy wheels on both ends, the 502 X runs on a 19-inch and 17-inch spoked wheels at the front and rear, respectively. Suspension hardware consists of a 50mm USD fork and a preload, rebound and compression-adjustable monoshock on both the variants. Stopping power comes via a 320mm twin-disc setup at the front and a 260m single disc at the rear. Dual-channel ABS comes as standard fitment.

Powering the ADVs is a 499.6cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin motor that produces 47.6PS at 8500rpm and 45Nm of torque at 5,000rpm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed transmission. For fewer fuel stops while touring, the TRK 502 duo feature a massive 20-litre fuel tank. Seat height stands at 840mm and the bikes tip the scale at a hefty 213kg. In terms of pricing, the Benelli TRK 502 is expected to be priced around Rs 5 lakh with the 502X could carry an additional premium of around Rs 20,000 to Rs 30,000. Currently, it doesn’t have any direct rivals and with the expected pricing, it will sit between the Kawasaki Versys-X 300 and the Suzuki V-Strom 650XT.
