Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R Launched At Rs 10.49 Lakh

The latest gen of the 600cc supersport gets fancy electronics as well as top-spec components

  • The new front end is reminiscent of the Ninja H2.
  • Gets Showa SFF-BP, Bridgestone Battlax Hypersport S22 tyres and Nissin monobloc callipers.
  • New bike gets updated with electronic goodies like traction control, power modes and ABS.

Kawasaki India has become the first Japanese manufacturer to launch a 600cc supersport in India with the Ninja ZX-6R. It has received an introductory price of Rs 10.49 lakh (ex-showroom India). What you get for that price is a 600cc inline four experience which is now legal in India. In early 2000s, motorcycles under 800cc were not legal to arrive to our shores via the CKD route, which is when the craze of illegal 600cc imports was at an all time high. Now, the norms have allowed for such motorcycles to be made available for Indian enthusiasts.

The ZX-6R has a 636cc inline-four motor nestled inside a pressed aluminium perimeter frame. 70.8Nm peak torque kicks in at 11,000rpm and 130PS of peak power is made at 13,500rpm, which is bonkers territory! The six-speed transmission gets a quickshifter to go up the gears quickly. In terms of the riding aids, it gets 3-stage traction control, ABS and two power modes.

The motorcycle is kitted with Showa’s Separate Function Fork - Big Piston (SFF-BP) and a piggyback monoshock. Braking hardware consists of Nissin monoblocs up front on two 310mm rotors with a 220m disc and a single-piston calliper chomping on the rear. It gets Bridgestone Battlax Hypersport S22 rubber shod on 17-inch alloy rims.

While there are no direct 600cc rivals for the ZX-6R, one could also check out the likes of the Ducati 959 Panigale or the Triumph Street Triple RS which offer similar sort of performance and are similarly specced.

Here’s what the company’s official statement says:
