- The Electric Vision iV concept previews Skoda’s future EV lineup.
The four door concept kickstarts Skoda’s electric revolution. Future EVs to incorporate learnings from the Electric Vision iV
Skoda is all set to make its foray into electric vehicles and has released the first sketches of its Electric Vision iV Concept, which is set to be revealed at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show next month. Like its other cousins from the VW Group, Skoda too will utilise the new Modular Electric Drive Kit (MEB) platform for its range of electric vehicles.
The Electric Vision iV concept teased by the Czech carmaker highlights the key exterior features which include a crossover coupe-like design with sleek lines and a floating roofline. At the front sits a broad new hexagonal grille, complemented by a striking horizontal light strip which connects the two headlamps, giving it a unique look. The headlamps also look pretty slick with a design borrowed from the Vision X concept. The sporty front design is further emphasized by the large air intakes.
The four door coupe crossover gets 22-inch ‘aerodynamically optimised’ alloy wheels and doors without protruding handles. External cameras replace traditional ORVMs to maintain the clean look at the sides as well.
At the rear, the concept gets new C-shaped crystalline LED tail lamps, which are in sync with the wide design of the crossover. Another eye-catching element at the rear is the new Skoda logo on the tailgate - the individual letters are lit up in red. The whole effect is topped off by a light strip running the breadth of the hulking diffuser.
Based on the MEB platform, which also underpins the VW I.D. range of cars, the Electric Vision iV Concept will shape up the first batch of EVs from Skoda, which are set to be launched in 2020. Over the next four years, Skoda will invest around 2 billion euros (approx. Rs 1.5 lakh crore) in alternative drive systems and new mobility services. It plans to introduce more than ten electrified models by the end of 2022.
The Electric Vision iV Concept will be revealed at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show, so stay tuned for all the updates and more details.
