Upcoming Cars For 2018: Hyundai Santro, Maruti Ertiga, Honda CR-V, Mahindra Marazzo And More

The year 2018 began with a bang thanks to Auto Expo 2018, and has continued to be so till now. But if you thought that was it then you’re clearly in for a surprise. The remaining four months are set to see some wacky new entrants, resurrections and mid-cycle facelifts. Some of these might convince you to wait if you were planning to go in for that new car purchase anytime soon. Come, take a look.

Hyundai “Santro”

Hyundai is already running a naming competition for its upcoming tallboy hatchback which currently bears the codename AH2. It's going to receive the first-ever AMT for a Hyundai car.

• Expected Price: Rs 3.5 to Rs 5.5 lakh

• Launch Date: October 2018

Mahindra Marazzo

Unlike the AH2, Mahindra’s premium MPV, the Marazzo received its name a couple of weeks back. It is going to be Mahindra’s most spacious seven-seater and will be competitively priced.

• Expected Price: Rs 10 lakh to Rs 15 lakh

• Launch Date: 3 September 2018

2018 Maruti Ertiga

Speaking of seven-seater MPVs, the Marazzo will have to fend off competition from the promising-looking 2018 Maruti Ertiga. It will be lighter, loaded with new features, powered by new engines and will be sold through premium Nexa retail stores.

• Expected Price: Rs 7 to 11 lakh

• Launch Date: October 2018

Ford Figo and Ford Aspire Facelift

The Figo siblings will get a more powerful 1.2-litre Dragon series petrol engine with new features added to the mix. There will be additional safety features as well in true Ford style to give them a competitive edge when it comes to the occupant’s well being. 

• Expected Price: Rs 5.20 lakh to 9 lakh (Aspire)/ Rs 4.80 to 7.80 lakh (Figo)

• Expected Launch: September 2018 for the Aspire followed by Figo

2018 Honda CR-V

We have already driven the fifth-gen CR-V, which will be available in a seven-seat avatar for the first time in India. Another first will be the introduction of a 1.6-litre diesel engine under its hood, which will be mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox. 

• Expected Price: Rs 27 lakh to 30 lakh

• Launch Date: October 2018

Tata Tiago JTP and Tigor JTP

Developed in tandem with Jayem Auto, the Tiago and the Tigor JTP will be the performance-focussed offerings of their standard versions. The changes are more than skin deep as these two share a more powerful turbo petrol engine, sportier suspension and much more.

• Expected Price: Rs 5.99 lakh ( Tiago JTP), 6.99 lakh (Tigor JTP)

• Expected Launch: September - October,2018

Datsun GO and GO+ facelift

The Datsun GO and GO+ facelift will be getting minor exterior updates and new features on the inside, like a touchscreen, for a more premium experience.

• Expected Price: Rs 3.50 lakh to 4.80 lakh (GO)/ Rs 3.95 lakh to 5.30 lakh (GO+)

• Expected Launch: September, 2018

Porsche Cayenne E-hybrid

The Cayenne Hybrid will be powered by the same set of V6 and V8 engines but will get the added assistance of hybrid technology. It is capable of 44km of pure electric drive while touching top speeds of nearly 135kmph in this mode.

• Expected Price: Rs 2 crore

• Launch Date: September, 2018

Jeep Compass TrailHawk

The Compass Trailhawk is the most intense Compass model and possesses tangibly better off roading prowess than the standard 4X4 version. It will be the most expensive Compass model on sale in India once it is launched.

• Expected Price: Rs 23 lakh to 24 lakh

• Expected Launch: October 2018

Skoda Karoq

The Czech carmaker will be bringing in the Karoq as the successor to the now defunct Yeti. The SUV has been already seen in a racy-looking ‘Sportline’ trim and a rugged ‘Scout’ version. It will be placed below the Kodiaq in Skoda’s lineup. It will be another sophisticated rival to the Hyundai Tucson and Jeep Compass.

• Expected Price: Rs 24 lakh

• Expected Launch: October 2018 - January 2019

Nissan Kicks

Nissan is betting big on the Kicks, which will be another vehicle to be based on the B0 platform like the Terrano. It will be a slightly premium offering from the company and will aim right at the Hyundai Creta and the Renault Captur.

• Expected Price: Rs 9.90 lakh to 14 lakh

• Launch Date: December 2018 - January 2019

Mahindra S201

The Mahindra S201 is going to be another entrant in the sub-compact SUV space and will be a direct competitor to the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport and the Tata Nexon.

• Expected Price: Rs 7 to 11 lakh

• Expected Launch: October, 2018

Mercedes-Benz E-Class All-Terrain

Mercedes-Benz C-Class Facelift

The C-Class facelift brings a new set of engines along with exterior updates that take it aesthetically closer to the flagship sedan, the S-Class.
