From Amitav Ghosh:
I am very happy to know that Jamyang Norbu has won the Crossword Prize. I have not, unfortunately, yet had the opportunity to read his book but I have heard wonderful things about it and look forward very much to reading it soon. I hope this prize speeds his way to a brilliant literary career. Many good wishes

From Tenzing Tsundue:
It's fifty years now since the Tibetans have been exposed to western education, and with two Tibetans winning literary awards in India this year it is a clear sign that the Tibetans are coming of age. Mr. Jamyang Norbu represents the first batch of Tibetans who had to negotiate questions of education and basic sustenace in the early sixties, while I happen to belong to youngsters' group who are still in the University. Mr. Jamyang Norbu had a brief stint in the military resistance movement by the Tibetans, which was based in Nepal, supported by the CIA. I am very happy for him for winning the crossword Book Award, 2001.
