Royal Enfield has launched a new variant of the Himalayan adventure tourer motorcycle. Called the Royal Enfield Himalayan Sleet, the new motorcycle carries a sticker price of Rs 2,12,66 (on-road Chennai) and comes fitted with an assortment of Royal Enfield official accessories. In comparison, the standard motorcycle is almost Rs 28,000 cheaper.

The new motorcycle comes fitted with an Explorer Kit as standard that consists of aluminium panniers, pannier mounting rails, aluminium handlebar with cross brace and large engine guard. Only 500 units of the new Himalayan Sleet edition will be built and prospective buyers will have to register themselves on the official website between January 12-30. Sales of the bike will commence from January 30 on a ‘first-come-first-serve’ basis. Royal Enfield will be offering a 2-year warranty on the new Himalayan Sleet.

To distinguish the new Himalayan Sleet from the standard variant, the bike gets draped in a grey camouflage colour shade that has been inspired from the snow-capped mountains of the Himalayas. Mechanically, the bike remains unchanged and is still powered by the same fuel-injected, single cylinder 411cc engine as seen on the standard bike, that delivers 24.5PS at 6500rpm and 32Nm of torque at 4500rpm. For better off-road performance, the Himalayan gets equipped with long-travel suspension on both ends. It also sports a large 21-inch spoke wheel at the front and an 18-inch spoke wheel at the back, both wrapped with Ceat dual-purpose tyres.

So, if you were planning to buy a Himalayan, the new Sleet edition does make good sense as it comes factory fitted with the Explorer Kit and is an exclusive variant.
