Lok Sabha Elections Phase 3 Voting: Over 60 per cent voter turnout has been recorded till 5 PM in the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections currently underway in 93 parliamentary constituencies across 11 states and Union Territories. Assam recorded the highest turnout at 74.86% followed by West Bengal at 73.93% while Maharashtra witnessed the lowest at 53.63%, with Bihar doing slightly better at 56.01%. In other news, the EC on Tuesday directed microblogging platform X to take down an animated video shared by Karnataka BJP on the Muslim reservation row. The Congress had filed an FIR against BJP President JP Nadda, IT cell head Amit Malviya, and the party's Karnataka unit chief BY Vijayendra on Sunday in connection with this matter.

Lok Sabha Elections Phase 3 Voting: 10.81% Turnout So Far

Hello, readers! Voting for Phase 3 of the Lok Sabha elections 2024 is underway in 93 constituencies across 11 states and Union Territories. As per the figures by the Election Commission of India (EC), West Bengal is leading the polling chart with over 15 percent turnout at 9 am. The approximate voter turnout stands at 10.81 per cent.

Lok Sabha Elections 2024 LIVE News : What is NOTA

None of the Above (NOTA) in EVMs is an option for voters who do not wish to cast vote for any candidate. On the Ballot Units (BU), below the name of the last candidate, there is a button for NOTA option which allows voters who do not want to vote for any of the candidates to exercise the option.

Lok Sabha Elections Phase 3 Voting : How To Check Your Polling Booth

A voter can check the EPIC number on their Voter ID card to find out which polling booth they are supposed to vote at.

What is EPIC number?

The Election Photo ID Card (EPIC), also known as the Voter ID card, has a unique 10-digit alpha-numeric code which is assigned by the Election Commission of India (ECI). The number is a proof that you are a registered voter.

On any Voter ID card, the EPIC code is on the front. One can also get the EPIC number from the National Voters' Service Portal (NVSP).

Remove Fake Content Within 3 Hours: EC Directs Political Parties

The Election Commission (EC) on Monday directed political parties to remove fake content from their social media platforms within three hours of such content being brought to their notice.

Karnataka Lok Sabha Elections Voting LIVE: 9.45% Polling Till 9 AM

Approximately 9.45 per cent voter turnout was logged in Karnataka during the first two hours since voting began for the third phase of Lok Sabha elections. This is the second phase of voting in Karnataka and 14 of the 28 seats are in the fray. The other 14 seats went to polls in the second phase on April 26.

Queues were seen at polling booths in most of these Lok Sabha segments in the northern districts of state with voters, mostly senior citizens, morning walkers and joggers, lining up to cast their votes early, with temperature expected to rise as the day progresses.

Out of 14 segments that are going to polls today, highest turnout of 11.39 per cent was recorded in Shimoga, followed by Uttara Kannada at 11.07 per cent, and least 8.27 per cent in Raichur.

Gujarat Lok Sabha Election Voting LIVE: Voter Turnout Till 1 PM

A voter turnout of 37.83 per cent was recorded till 1 pm in 25 Lok Sabha seats of Gujarat in the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections on Tuesday, an Election Commission (EC) official said.

As many as 265 candidates are in the fray for 25 out of 26 Lok Sabha seats in the state. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) bagged the Surat seat unopposed after eight out of nine eligible candidates withdrew their nomination forms. BJP candidate Mukesh Dalal was declared the winner.

"An average 37.83 per cent voter turnout was recorded between 7 am and 1 pm in Gujarat," the official said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Chief Electoral Officer for Gujarat, P Bharathi were among the early voters.

West Bengal Lok Sabha Election Voting: Clashes Reported In Jangipur

Clashes were reported in West Bengal's Jangipur following a heated altercation between BJP candidate Dhananjay Ghosh and a local Trinamool Congress worker at a polling booth on Tuesday, an indiatoday.in report said.

West Bengal Voter Turnout: 63.11% Polling Till 3 PM In Third Phase

A voter turnout of 63.11 per cent was recorded till 3 pm in four Lok Sabha seats of West Bengal in the third phase of the general elections on Tuesday, a poll official said.

According to the official, Murshidabad registered the highest voter turnout with 65.40 per cent followed by Maldaha Dakshin (62.90), Jangipur (62.57), and Maldaha Uttar (61.50).

Bhagawangola assembly seat in Murshidabad district, where a bypoll is underway, recorded a turnout of 61.18 per cent till 3pm, the official said.

Lok Sabha Elections News: Lalu Prasad Sparks Row With 'Full Reservation For Muslims' Remark

Former Bihar Chief Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad triggered a controversy after he favoured "poora" (complete) reservation for Muslims, inviting criticism from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP and its former ally JD(U).

Speaking to the media in Patna, Lalu Yadav alleged that the ruling BJP wanted to do away with reservations by scrapping the Constitution. "Reservation toh milna chahiye Musalmano ko, poora... They (BJP) want to finish off the Constitution and democracy of the country," the RJD supremo said.

Addressing a rally on Tuesday, PM Modi said "dangerous conspiracy of Congress and INDI Alliance was exposed" with Lalu Yadav's statement.

RJD supremo Lalu Prasad's remarks on Muslim quota have made it clear that if voted to power, the INDIA bloc will provide reservation to the minority community by making changes in the Constitution's fundamental structure, the BJP charged on Tuesday.

"Lalu Prasad Yadav said that full reservation should be provided to Muslims. This word, 'pura ka pura' (full), used by him in his statement, is very serious. This makes it clear that they (INDIA bloc) want to provide reservation to Muslims from the share of SCs, STs and OBCs," BJP national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said.

UP Lok Sabha Election Phase 3 Voting: 46.78% Turnout Till 3 PM

Over 46 per cent polling was recorded till 3 pm in the Phase 3 voting for Lok Sabha election being held for 10 seats in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday.

Agra witnessed 43.67 per cent polling, Aonla 46.75 per cent, Budaun 45.44 per cent, Bareilly 45.96 per cent, Etah 48.93 per cent, Fatehpur Sikri 46.18 per cent, Firozabad 47.80 per cent, Hathras 44.63 per cent, Mainpuri 46.80 per cent and Sambhal 52.24 per cent, the Election Commission (EC) said.

By 3 pm, 46.78 per cent votes were cast. Voting began at 7 am and will continue till 6 pm. More than 1.89 crore voters are eligible to vote in these 10 constituencies.

Gujarat Lok Sabha Election Phase 3 Voting: 47.03% Turnout Till 3 PM

Gujarat has recorded a voter turnout of 47.03 per cent till 3 pm in Phase 3 of the Lok Sabha elections 2024. A total of 25 Lok Sabha seats of Gujarat are voting in the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections.

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had scored its first victory in Lok Sabha elections from Surat without contest after eight out of nine candidates withdrew from the fray and the nomination form of the Congress candidate was rejected.

"An average 47.03 per cent voter turnout was recorded between 7 am and 3 pm in Gujarat," the official said.

Maharashtra Lok Sabha Election News: Man Killed Outside Polling Booth

A 27-year-old man was killed and his friend injured in a knife attack outside a polling booth in Maharashtra's Dharashiv district, where polling is underway in the third phase of the general election on Tuesday, police said.

The attack was due to personal enmity and had nothing to do with the elections, news agency PTI quoted an official as saying.

The incident occurred outside the polling booth in Patsangvi village of Bhoom tehsil around 11.30 am, he said.

"The truth is that the Congress parivar deeply hates Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar,” Modi said.

Voting for all the seven phases of Lok Sabha elections 2024 will commence at 7 am and conclude at 6 pm. Lok Sabha elections or general elections 2024 in India are taking place in seven phases - April 19, April 26, May 7, May 13, May 20, May 25, and June 1.

Counting of votes will take place on June 4.

Goa Lok Sabha Election Voting LIVE: Turnout Till 3 PM

A voter turnout of 61 per cent was witnessed in the two Lok Sabha constituencies in Goa till 3 pm in the third phase of the general elections on Tuesday. As per data shared by the election authorities, 61.28 per cent of voters exercised their franchise in North Goa, while 61.5 per cent turnout was recorded in South Goa.

Polling at 1,725 centres, 863 in North Goa and 862 in South Goa, began at 7 am.

General Elections 2024: EC Asks X To Take Down Animated Video Shared By BJP On Muslim Quota Row

Election Commission has directed microblogging platform X to take down animated video shared by Karnataka BJP on Muslim reservation row. The Congress had filed an FIR against BJP President JP Nadda, IT cell head Amit Malviya, and the party's Karnataka unit chief BY Vijayendra on Sunday in connection with this matter.

The video shared by BJP targeted Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Siddaramaiah in line with the party's claim that the grand old party aims to distribute wealth among Muslims by snatching the rights of SCs, STs and OBCs.

Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Voter Turnout As of 5 PM

As per the Election Commission of India, the voter turnout for 5 PM for Phase 3 of the Lok Sabha Elections stood at 60.19 percent. As per the approximate trend, Assam has reported the highest voter turnout of 74.86 percent.

Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Delhi Reports 1.5 Crore Eligible Voters

Over 1.5 crore voters in the national capital, more than 8.85 lakh voters from last polls are eligible to vote on May 25, election officials said on Tuesday.

As per a PTI report, P Krishnamurthy, the Chief Electoral Officer Delhi, said amongst the voters, 2.52 lakh are first-time voters.

Lok Sabha Election 2024 Phase 3: Voter Turnout Touches 61%

As per the Election Commission of India, the approximate voter turnout for Phase 3 of the Lok Sabha Elections has touched 61 percent. The poll body has recorded a voter turnout of 60.82 percent.

Of all the states that went to the polls today, Assam reported the highest voter turnout of 75.01 percent.

Model Code Of Conduct Turned Into ‘Modi Code Of Conduct’ Under BJP Rule: Mamata Banerjee

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday alleged that the Election Commission has turned a blind eye to the allegations against BJP leaders that they indulge in hate speeches during campaigns, converting the Model Code of Conduct to the “Modi Code of Conduct”.

Mr. Modi and other BJP leaders by their “hate-filled speeches” are intimidating lower caste Hindus, minorities and other marginalised sections, but the Election Commission is silent, she alleged. 

“The Election Commission’s Model Code of Conduct has turned out to be a mockery and should be rechristened as Modi code of conduct. But we will continue to flag every incident of violation of rights of citizens of this country,” Ms. Banerjee said.

Lok Sabha Election: Nomination Process For 7th Phase Begins In Punjab, Himachal Pradesh

The nomination process for Punjab’s 13 Lok Sabha seats and Himachal Pradesh’s four parliamentary constituencies as well as six assembly segments where bypolls are to be held on June 1 began on Tuesday. 

The nomination process will continue till May 14, barring May 11 and 12 which are public holidays. The scrutiny of papers will take place on May 15 and the last date for the withdrawal of nominations is May 17, according to an official release. 

In Himachal Pradesh, four candidates, including two Independents, filed their nominations for the parliamentary polls on Tuesday.

Lok Sabha Election 2024: Bilkis Bano Casts Vote With Husband In Gujarat

Gujarat riots survivor Bilkis Bano cast her vote with her husband Yakub Rasul in the state's Devgadh Baria town under the Dahod Lok Sabha constituency, reported news agency PTI.

Bano flashed her inked finger after coming out of the polling station in the Kapdi locality.

Lok Sabha Elections 2024 Phase 3: Voter Turnout Nears 62%

As per the latest update from the Election Commission of India, the voter turnout for the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 stands at 61.90 percent.

For Phase 3, 94 constituencies across 12 states voted for their candidates on Tuesday. As per the data compiled by the poll body, Assam has reported the highest turnout at 75.53 percent and Maharashtra has reported the lowest turnout with 55.54 percent.
