Astha currently holds the position of Technical Lead in the Systems Engineering team at Latitude AI, a subsidiary of Ford Motor Company in the USA. Her focus on autonomous driving technologies is pivotal, driving the development of robust safety methodologies and defining autonomy behavior requirements for Latitude's autonomous systems. Astha says “In other words, I develop methods and techniques to make vehicles more safe and intelligent, with the goal of minimizing accidents resulting from human error. These advancements not only reclaim valuable time for drivers during their journeys but also redefine travel, making travel safer, less stressful, ultimately benefiting the overall economy and enhancing people's overall well-being”.
Originally from New Delhi, Astha Kukreja graduated from Netaji Subhas University of Technology and pursued Masters in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Control Systems from University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Her first job was at Maruti Suzuki in India. Once she went to the USA, she made a mark at Cummins Inc., a Fortune 500 company. There, Astha's focus on developing algorithms and testing for diesel engine aftertreatment systems resulted in patented innovations, reducing emissions and contributing to a cleaner environment on a global scale. She then joined Rethink Robotics in Boston where she worked on making collaborative robots work safely alongside humans in manufacturing and industrial factories.
