Israel-Gaza War: Hezbollah Destroys Israeli Surveillance Cameras Along Lebanese Border Amid Tension

In a bid to foi Israel surveillance bid on Hezboolah's movements,  Lebanon's militant group said Monday tha it had started destroying  cameras on several Israeli army posts along the border amid rising tension following the Israel-Hamas war that began October 7.The development came after days of fire exchange that left at least seven people dead, including four Hezbollah fighters, on the Lebanese side.

Israel and Hezbollah share a bitter emnity since fighting a monthlong war in the summer of 2006 that ended in a draw. Estimating that Hezbollah has some 150,000 rockets and missiles aimed at Israel, they consider the Iran-backed Shiite militant group poses as the most serious immediate threat. 

There are concerns that the powerful Iran-backed Hezbollah could join the war with Hamas against Israel and earlier this month, President Joe Biden warned other players in the Middle East not to join the conflict and has sent American warships to the region and vowed full support for Israel.

Fueling this speculation, the Hezbollah militant group recently confirmed their readiness to join hands with Gaza's Hamas when the time is right.The confirmation came from Hezbollah deputy chief Naim Qassem as the conflict continued since October 7.

"We, as Hezbollah, are contributing to the confrontation and will (continue) to contribute to it within our vision and plan," deputy chief Qassem told recently while attending a pro-Palestinian rally in Beirut's southern suburbs.

"We are fully prepared, and when the time comes for action, we will take it," he said

Hezbollah legislator Hassan Fadlallah said Sunday that the group is ready for all possibilities adding, “we don't want to reveal what the next step is.” He said Hezbollah's next step “is tied to what is going on in Gaza.”

French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna arrived in Beirut where she will meet officials to discuss border tensions.
