Israel has intensified attacks on Gaza since Friday’s UN resolution which failed to call for a ceasefire – here are the latest updates.
“People in Gaza are People. They are not pieces on a checkerboard - many have already been displaced several times. The Israeli Army just orders people to move into areas where there are ongoing airstrikes. No place is safe, nowhere to go,” writes Thomas White, the director of United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) affairs, as more than 1.9 million Palestinians remain displaced as a result of Israel’s attacks.
So far, more than 20,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks since October 7. The revised death toll from Hamas’s attack on Israel stands at 1,139.

1. Israeli military issues new evacuation orders in central Gaza, forcing thousands to flee homes amid increased aerial bombardments following the UN Security Council resolution without a clear call for a ceasefire.
2. Journalist Ahmad Jamal Al Madhoun becomes the 101st journalist to be killed in Gaza, according to the Government Media Office in Gaza.
3. Israel's current and former defence ministers, Yoav Gallant and Benny Gantz, visit northern Gaza, pledging more attacks despite international pressure for an immediate ceasefire.
4. Qatari Prime Minister and Jordanian Foreign Minister discuss the Gaza war in Doha, calling for an end to Israeli attacks.
5. Hezbollah's Hassan Nasrallah to deliver his third speech since the start of the Gaza war, marking the January 3 assassination of Iran’s top general, Qassem Soleimani, by the US.
6. Agnes Callamard, secretary-general of Amnesty International, said the UNSC resolution for humanitarian relief would only result in a "drop in the ocean of suffering" in Gaza. She mentioned that the White House "holds the key" for putting an end to the carnage.
7. Heavy raids by the Israeli army continued in the occupied West Bank. A convoy led by bulldozers entered Tulkarem in the early hours of Sunday, and raids have also been reported in Bethlehem, the town of Beita just south of Nablus, and the towns of Sa’ir and Karma near Hebron.
8. The representative for Hamas in Beirut, Osama Hamdan, said Israel has failed in its stated goal of "destroying" the group and that it will have to stop the war if it wants the captives released.
9. The United Nations Security Council resolution on Friday failed to call for a Gaza ceasefire; instead, it only called for more humanitarian aid.
