Born in Hyderabad, Nadella grew up with a passion for cricket and an insatiable curiosity for technology. After completing his engineering degree from Manipal Institute of Technology in Karnataka, he moved to the United States to pursue an MS in computer science at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. In 1992 Nadella started his journey with Microsoft and rapidly climbed the ranks, demonstrating a deep understanding of technology's potential to reshape the world and his ability to navigate the evolving tech landscape. He played a pivotal role in shaping Microsoft's cloud computing strategy, which would eventually become the cornerstone of the company's success.
His tenure as the Senior Vice President of Research and Development for the company's online services division saw him guiding the evolution of Bing, Microsoft's search engine, demonstrating his advancing mindset.
However, Nadella's breakthrough moment came when he recognized the potential of cloud computing. He played an instrumental role in shaping Microsoft's cloud strategy. As the Executive Vice President of Microsoft's Cloud and Enterprise division, he orchestrated the growth of Microsoft's cloud offerings, including Azure - redefining the company's future trajectory.
Finally, in 2014, Nadella's proven forward-looking visionary thinking and track record led to his appointment as Microsoft's third CEO. He brought with him a fresh perspective to the company's culture, shifting it to a growth mindset, collaborative work environment, and a commitment to innovation.
