Elvis Presley fans around the world who missed the chance to witness the legendary performer live are in for a treat later this year with the launch of "Elvis Evolution," a groundbreaking virtual reality experience.
Developed by Layered Reality, an immersive entertainment company, the show promises to combine artificial intelligence, holographic projection, augmented reality, and live theatre to recreate pivotal moments in Presley's life and music.
Layered Reality founder and CEO, Andrew McGuinness, shared his excitement about the project, stating, "It's going to be a joyous celebration of Elvis's life; the man, the music, and his cultural legacy."
McGuinness highlighted that the experience would take visitors on a journey from Presley's birthplace in Tupelo, Mississippi, to his residence in Memphis, Tennessee, at Graceland, and even the vibrant entertainment scene of Las Vegas. The pinnacle of the experience will be an AI-powered performance by the legendary Elvis Presley himself.
The British company was given access to thousands of the star's personal photos and hours of home videos to create the new performances using AI, McGuinness said.
Despite having passed away 46 years ago at the age of 42, Elvis Presley's global appeal remains strong, with over 500 million records sold, solidifying his status as the best-selling solo music artist of all time.
Recent cinematic releases, such as Baz Luhrmann's 2022 biography "Elvis" and Sofia Coppola's 2023 exploration of his complex relationship with his wife Priscilla in "Priscilla," have sparked a renewed interest in the legendary singer.
McGuinness said Elvis Evolution would appeal to both die-hard fans and those curious to discover more about the "Can't Help Falling in Love" singer.
After London, Elvis Evolution will travel to cities including Las Vegas, Tokyo and Berlin, he added.
