A mass shooting was reported in the Unite States' Alabama on Saturday evening killing at least four people and reportedly dozens of others were injured in the incident which took place in popular entertainment place in Birmingham.

Birmingham Police Department has informed the media that the shooting happened around 11 PM on 20th Street near Magnolia Avenue in the Five Points South area.

According to CNN no one has been arrested in the case yet.

Birmingham Officer Truman Fitzgerald told CNN that when the police arrived at the spot, they saw two men and a woman 'unresponsive' with gunshot wounds. The three were declared dead later on the scene while the fourth person was among the injured who died at the hospital.

“We believe that multiple shooters fired multiple shots on a group of people,” Fitzgerald reportedly said.

Several more gunshot victims were identified in the spot and many arrived later at the hospital. Fitzgerald added, "I’m told at least four of those gunshot victims are life-threatening, the others have various injuries."

The police officer further informed that the victims were in the footpath of the area when the shooting happened and they are investigating if the accused was also walking or drove up in a vehicle before attacking.

The police are also investigating whether there were 'multiple shootings'.

They are checking surveillance footage to identify the accused and have reportedly asked the businesses in the area to help with that and asked the public to reach out with any clue.

“We will do everything we possibly can to make sure we uncover, identify and hunt down whoever is responsible for preying on our people this morning," Fitzgerald told WBMA.

The Five Points South area of Birmingham has numerous entertainment venues, restaurants and bars and often is crowded on Saturday nights.
