Second Cohort of Obama-Chesky Scholarship for Public Service To Support College Students Pursue Careers in Public Service

Former President Barack Obama, former first lady Mrs. Michelle Obama, and Brian Chesky, co-founder and CEO of Airbnb, have announced the second cohort of recipients for the Obama-Chesky Scholarship for Public Service. The  program is designed to support college students pursuing careers in public service by  providing  academic scholarships, travel opportunities, and access to a network of influential leaders. It is envisaged to contribute to the development of the next generation of change-makers.

Building on the success of its inaugural cohort, the new group of "Voyagers," as they are known, would be nurtured as  emerging leaders dedicated to tackling global challenges and driving positive change. Funded by Chesky's personal contribution of $100 million to the Obama Foundation, the Voyager Scholarship is a two-year program for college juniors and seniors. It aims to inspire, empower, and connect young leaders, equipping them with the tools and resources necessary to launch impactful careers in public service.

The scholarship offers a comprehensive approach, combining financial aid to overcome barriers, immersive work-travel experiences, and access to a robust network of mentors and leaders within the Obama Foundation. The newly selected cohort consists of 100 people from 33 states and territories, representing 75 colleges and universities.
President Obama expressed his excitement for working with these talented young individuals as they commit themselves to careers in public service. He emphasized their dedication to addressing global challenges, inspiring hope for a brighter future. Chesky echoed this sentiment, recognizing the potential within these young minds and eagerly anticipating the impact they will have on society.

The inaugural cohort is currently engaged in their Summer Voyages, spanning various countries and addressing issues like gender equity, climate change, and healthcare access. The collaboration between the two cohorts offers opportunities for shared insights and connections, enhancing their collective ability to drive change.
