Viktor Hovland Claims $18 Million and FedEx Cup Crown at 2023 Tour Championship

Viktor Hovland secures victory and a staggering $18 million prize money at the 2023 Tour Championship, claiming the prestigious FedEx Cup crown. The event concluded with a grand payout as the PGA Tour postseason comes to a close

Viktor Hovland emerged as the champion of the 2023 Tour Championship in a grand finale to the PGA Tour postseason  securing not only the prestigious FedEx Cup crown but also an astounding prize money of $18 million. The event, held at East Lake Golf Club and concluding on Sunday, marked the culmination of a thrilling season.

With a FedEx Cup bonus pool totaling $75 million, the stakes were high for the remaining field of 30 players who had battled their way to the top. While each player within the top 150 of the FedEx Cup standings will receive a share of the bonus, the competition for a substantial portion of the pool remained fierce, with almost $60 million up for grabs in Atlanta.

The financial rewards of this tournament are indeed astronomical, with every player within the top 10 securing a seven-figure payout. Even those at the bottom of the leaderboard did not go home empty-handed, as each of the 30 players received a minimum of $500,000.

Viktor Hovland's victory earned him an impressive $18 million, a reward fitting for his exceptional performance. However, the excitement didn't stop there. Notably, Scottie Scheffler stood out with earnings surpassing $18 million this season, positioning him for a potential $40 million a year had he clinched his first FedEx Cup crown. Yet, it was Hovland who ultimately claimed the crown.

The top 10 players were part of the exclusive seven-figure club, with Hovland leading the pack. Notable names such as Xander Schauffele, Wyndham Clark, Rory McIlroy, Patrick Cantlay, and more secured significant payouts.

As the curtain fell on the 2023 Tour Championship, the prize money distribution demonstrated the lucrative nature of professional golf. The tournament's purse was a staggering $57.9 million, with every participant taking home a substantial sum.
