President of the United States Donald Trump's Twitter account appeared to briefly disappear, but is now back up and running.
Shortly before 7 pm (local time) yesterday, social media reports surfaced that the president's personal account, @RealDonaldTrump, was unavailable, providing the error message that the user "does not exist." The account was restored by 7:03 pm.
The handle 'Twitter government' issued a statement saying Trump's account was 'inadvertanty deactivated due to a human error' and later revealed "a Twitter customer support employee ... did this on the employee's last day."
The 45th President of the United States has a twitter following of 41.7 million users. He has used the social media platform to attack his opponents and promote himself that worked extensively during the 2016 Presidential campaign. Trump's twitter is also where he coined the phrase 'Fake News'.
Spokespeople for the White House and Twitter did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
