Bull’s Eye

BJP leaders are still dazed after their government fell by one vote. Why did it fall? George Fernandes said that a foreign hand had worked against the government. Only one issue enabled the BJP ’s opponents to unite: the atrocities committed against minorities.

Senior BJP vice- president K. R. Malkani wrote a letter to all the national dailies. He questioned Jyoti Basu’s criticism of the Sangh parivar for demolishing the Babri Masjid. Malkani asked Basu: "Why (are you) so sure who did the demolishing? (Were not these) the doings of a mysterious foreign agency?"

Ah! So even behind the atrocities against minorities there was a foreign hand at work. But how does the foreign hand operate? It is not visible. Therefore it must work either through willing agents or through ignorant dupes. Can anyone shed light on who these agents or dupes might be?

According to the CBI , Quattrochi paid hawala money to Amir Bhai who paid it to Moolchand Shah who paid it to S. K. Jain who paid it to L. K. Advani and 41 other political leaders. The same Moolchand Shah paid part of that money to Kashmiri separatists. According to the police, Moolchand Shah funded those who demolished the Babri Masjid as well as those who organised the retaliatory bomb blast in Mumbai.

So, can Advani shed light on the foreign hand? Former BJP MP and VHP activist Brij Bhushan Saran Singh admitted in a TADA court that he was close to the henchmen of Dawood Ibrahim, accused in the Mumbai bomb blast case. Singh led the biggest contingent among those who demolished the Babri Masjid. Yet Ashok Singhal, boss of the anti- Muslim VHP , took no action against him.

Brij Bhushan could not contest elections due to the TADA case against him. Yet former BJP president Murli Manohar Joshi took no action against him. Instead, Brij Bhushan’s wife was made the candidate in his place.

Can Joshi shed light on the foreign hand?

Recently, after the BJP government fell, the party desperately needed allies. Precisely at that time a BJP MLC in Karnataka, Madhusudan, put up anti- Christian hoardings all over Mysore.

Finally, after glossing over the Babri Masjid demolition for seven years, Malkani has now discovered a foreign hand. Can Malkani shed light on the foreign hand? To weaken the land, Shake the foreign hand,

RANDOM NOTES: Scribes made requests galore to meet Jayalalitha while she was in Delhi, but the lady from Poes Garden only relented towards the Rediff- on- the- Net team. Leading the netzine’s brat pack was Suhasini Haider— who just happens to be Subramanian Swamy’s daughter.

RANDOM NOTES: Rajnikanth is being wooed so hard that he’s left Madras. From Ajit Jogi to G. K. Moopanar to L. K. Advani, political hotshots are trying to enlist him. The hounded actor fled this week to London with his family, citing the World Cup— a fortnight before the action starts.
