Capital Blues

Over the next day or so I found out what happened: the MCD had struck again, lightning-like, to demolish innocent driveways throughout Nizamuddin. Without warning, says my landlord, though a neighbour claims a notice was published somewhere six months ago. Why? Some of the driveways sloped into the street, as they have done for thirty years or more. It was time to take action! No warning came before the deed so vehicles might be moved. My landlord's car remains trapped inside his fateful property line. Since it is not a fourwheel drive, he'll need a crane to get it out. MCD, so keen to destroy, is not going to repair the damage, it seems. Since the corporation is so energetic, does this mean they will start sending people out to actually read the water meters, and stop issuing the customary inflated guesstimates? Maybe they'll even provide drinkable water.
