Mr Sudarshan is unlikely to endorse the views in this letter to the editor printed in the London Guardian, but it poses thoughts that are unusually pertinent today: "As long as mankind remains in thrall to outdated beliefs in 'gods', there is no chance of peace on earth. All religions profess peace and love-yet they have been responsible for most of the bloodshed throughout the ages. Religions are relics of the dark ages. They foster hatred, enmity and bigotry and have no place in a modern, civilised society."
