Rahul Ain't Roy

It says something of the charisma and power of this still relatively young man that he instilled such dread and fear in the Mexican government that, half a century later, all Indians remained suspect. Even now, the Mexican Embassy in New Delhi tells you that it will take a minimum of six to seven weeks to get a visa (it took me even longer) and that an interview is required. Isn't Mexico keen to attract Indian tourists and business? Evidently not. I did not meet a single Indian tourist or businessman in my 10 days in Mexico. I cannot say that of any other country that I have visited. The Mexican visa application form gives itself away. One of its sections asks pointedly if the applicant plans to visit any "border towns". To put it simply, Indians are considered potential communists or illegal immigrants into the US!
