Son Strokes

Again, much like in India, ‘son’ stroke is a fairly recurrent affliction among politicians in Seoul. Like several of his predecessors, President Kim Dae-jung appears the latest casualty in that line. He has already apologised for his sons who seem to have made a pile pushing deals, and have a number of cases filed against them. One of the President’s aides has been arrested on corruption charges. With elections due later in the year, that is as bad as it could get for President Kim Dae-jung. But it must be added that unlike in India where the corrupt manage to use the "innocent till proven guilty" argument as a convenient cover and it lasts them for years on end, the cases in Korea move to their judicial conclusion much faster—like their economy does.
