Having said that, I must admit Delhi has improved considerably in the past few years, for which a great deal of credit must go to CM Sheila Dikshit. I have never met the lady but even diehard bjp supporters give her grudging respect. She's smart, hard-working and honest. Pity there aren't more CMs like her in the country. The most visible and obvious aspect of the fast-improving Delhi is its air. Remember when the Australian cricketers, appalled at Delhi's pollution, vowed never to play in Delhi again? I know that the courts had to push the Delhi government to come down heavily on polluting vehicles and industries. Still, the change has been dramatic. January used to be a depressingly grey, cold, humid and smog-filled month. This January has mostly seen bright sunshine, blue skies and, best of all, crisp, healthy air.
