'Adani Is Holy Cow For BJP': Opposition Hits Out At Govt Over Hindenburg, Cow Row

Following the Adani-Hindenburg row, the opposition has been demanding a joint parliamentary committee probe or a Supreme Court-monitored investigation into the allegations of fraud and stock manipulation initiated by Adani's companies.

Responding to the recent notification issued by the Animal Welfare Board appealing to people to celebrate cow hug day on February 14, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) leader Sanjay Raut said that Gautam Adani is the 'holy cow for BJP'.

"Adani is a holy cow for the BJP. Hence, they have hugged their holy cow and left other cows for us to hug on Valentine’s Day," Sanjay Raut said, according to a report by India Today.

A similar statement was made by CPI(M) leader John Brittas on Tuesday said, "So, one issue which is raging in the country but that is a holy cow for many of us. There is obviously Gau Mata... (but) there is a bigger cow, holy cow in this country, none other than Adani. You dont want us to discuss about Adani, the fiasco, the scandal that is rocking the entire world."

The Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) on Monday issued an appeal to the public to hug cows on Valentine's Day on February 14. "In view of immense benefit of the cow, hugging the cow will bring emotional richness, hence will increase our individual and collective happiness. Therefore, all the cow lovers may also celebrate the February 14 as Cow Hug Day keeping in mind the importance of mother cow and make life happy and full of positive energy," it said.

Following the Adani-Hindenburg row, the opposition has been demanding a joint parliamentary committee probe or a Supreme Court-monitored investigation into the allegations of fraud and manipulation levelled by the research against Adani's companies.

AAP and Congress have been taking to the streets of Delhi to protest against the alleged stock manipulation while the Parliament has been witnessing ruckus over the speeches by TMC MP Mahua Moitra, Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge and so on.
