 J&K: 3 Soldiers Martyred In Attack On Army Camp In Rajouri, 2 Terrorists Killed

According to the reports, the two militants were spotted crossing the fence of the Army camp at Pargal, around 25 km from Rajouri. The Army soldiers deployed in the area retaliated and an encounter broke out with the militants.

Three soldiers were killed in action after two militants barged into an army camp early this morning in the Darhal region of Rajouri, around 200 km from the winter capital Jammu. Both the militants were killed in the encounter.

According to the reports, the two militants were spotted crossing the fence of the Army camp at Pargal, around 25 km from Rajouri. The Army soldiers deployed in the area retaliated and an encounter broke out with the militants. Additional parties were despatched for the location. While five army personnel were wounded in the encounter, three succumbed to the injuries. The search operation is underway.

National Conference leader Omar Abdullah on Thursday condoled the death of three soldiers in a terrorist attack on an army camp in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.

"Very sorry to hear about the death in the line of duty of three soldiers following a militant attack in Rajouri. While condemning the attack I send my condolences to the families & my prayers for the swift recovery of those officers & jawans injured in the attack #Rajouri," the former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister tweeted.

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday condemned the attack on a security forces camp in Rajouri district and vowed to deal with terrorists and their supporters in a befitting manner. 

According to reports, in a tweet, Sinha said, "Strongly condemn despicable terrorist attack in Rajouri; tributes to brave soldiers who made supreme sacrifice. Heartfelt condolences to the families of the bravehearts martyred in the attack. We shall deal with evil designs of terrorists and their backers in a befitting manner". 

The Army has identified the soldiers as Sub Rajendra Prasad, of Maligoven, Jhunjhunu Rajasthan,  Rifleman Lakshmanan D, of T Pudupatti, Madurai, Tamil Nadu and Rifleman Manoj Kumar, of Shahjahanpur, Haryana.

The army said, in the early hours of August 11, 2022, alert sentries of the Indian Army post at Parghal, district Rajouri, around 200 km from Jammu detected suspicious persons approaching their post taking advantage of the inclement weather and dense foliage.

 “The sentries challenged the two terrorists who threw grenades while attempting to gain entry inside the post. However alert troops cordoned the area and engaged them in a firefight thereby pinning them. In the ensuing encounter, two terrorists were neutralised,” Jammu-based defence spokesman Lt Col Devender Anand said. He  said six soldiers of the Indian Army were wounded in the operation out of which, three succumbed to their injuries while repulsing this suicide attack by terrorists".
