Eleven girls belonging to the Paharia tribe, a Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG), were rescued from Bengaluru after being trafficked from their homes in Sahibganj and Pakur districts in Jharkhand.
According to an official, the girls will be brought to Ranchi from Bengaluru.
The government issued a statement acknowledging the prevalence of human trafficking and the exploitation of poor families on the pretext of job opportunities in big cities.
The state government's Anti Human Trafficking Unit is actively working to combat these criminal activities and rescue children from their clutches. The statement further informed that arrangements have been made for the rehabilitation of the rescued children.
This incident is not the first of its kind as a few days ago, 13 minors, including a 14-year-old pregnant girl, were rescued from Delhi after being trafficked from Jharkhand.
