AAP To Take A Call On Participation In Opposition’s Bengaluru Meet Today

Opposition leaders in the country including Bihar CM and JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar has been making hectic efforts to forge unity against BJP for 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Aam Aadmi Party is expected on Sunday to take a call on participation in the Opposition meet scheduled to be held in Bengaluru on July 17.

The reports said AAP’s leaders will hold a deliberation on participation in the Bengaluru Opposition scheduled to be held in Bengaluru on July 17-18.

AAP will also discuss its strategy for the upcoming Monsoon session of the Parliament.

The meeting will be attended by members of AAP's Political Affairs Committee and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, reported NDTV.

Following the mega Opposition meet held on June 23 in Bihar’s Patna, the AAP had issued a statement saying that the Congress' hesitation and "refusal to act as a team player will make it very difficult for the AAP to be a part of any alliance that includes the Congress".

The AAP had said that it would not be part of any future opposition gatherings that include the Congress until the party publicly opposes the Centre's contentious ordinance on the control of administrative services in Delhi.

JD(U) leader and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has taken a lead in speaking to several regional satraps besides the Congress, Aam Aadmi Party, and the Left to forge unity among opposition ranks to take on the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Delhi counterpart Arvind Kejriwal earlier called for opposition unity to take on the BJP as the JD(U) leader met the AAP convenor at his residence and extended "complete support" to him in the ongoing face-off with the Centre over the control of administrative services.

Recently, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during an interaction in Washington said that the BJP will be "decimated" in the next three-four assembly elections by the Congress, emphasising that they have the basic requirements that are needed to defeat the ruling party which do not have the support of the vast majority of the Indian population.

Interestingly, opposition unity was also showcased at the swearing-in of Congress leader Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar in Bengaluru on, as Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, his Tamil Nadu counterpart M K Stalin and a host of leaders arrived in what was seen as a coming together of the non-BJP bloc ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
