AAP Leader Accuses Haryana Government Of Deliberately Flooding Parts Of Delhi

Singh alleges that the Haryana government deliberately released water from the Hathnikund barrage, leading to the floods, while criticizing BJP MPs in Delhi for not negotiating with Haryana to address the situation.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sanjay Singh launched a scathing attack on the BJP government in Haryana, holding them responsible for the flood-like situation in parts of Delhi. Singh accused the Haryana government of deliberately releasing water from the Hathnikund barrage towards Delhi, while neglecting to distribute it evenly among all three states. He alleged that the BJP purposely caused the flood for political reasons, causing suffering to the people of the national capital.

During a press conference, Singh claimed that the BJP MPs in Delhi could have negotiated with the Haryana government to address the flood situation but chose not to. He further stated that the water from the Hathnikund barrage was released only in the Yamuna canal of Delhi and not towards the east and west canals that flow to Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.

AAP leader Somnath Bharti joined in, referring to the flood-like situation in Delhi as a "BJP-made disaster." Bharti alleged that the water flow from the east and west canals, which should have gone towards Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, was intentionally diverted towards Delhi.

Backing the AAP's stance, national spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar highlighted that despite the absence of heavy rainfall in the past three days, low-lying areas near the Yamuna river in Delhi remained inundated. She deemed it unfortunate that the Centre was engaged in negative politics, labeling the situation as a man-made disaster.

Responding to the accusations, the BJP's Delhi unit chief, Sachdeva, criticized the city government for failing to desilt the Yamuna river and drains, resulting in waterlogging. He argued that the river's reduced depth, due to lack of desilting, exacerbated the flood situation. Sachdeva accused the Kejriwal government of incompetence in managing the flood situation and accused AAP ministers and leaders of making misleading political statements.
