The account, known as "NCP Speaks 1," was established to disseminate announcements and updates regarding the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and its leadership, specifically representing Ajit Pawar's faction.
The Twitter account belonging to the faction of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) led by Ajit Pawar has been suspended following complaints from leaders of the opposing faction led by Sharad Pawar. This account, known as "NCP Speaks 1," served as the platform for Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar's group to share important party announcements and updates related to its leaders.
The suspension of "NCP Speaks 1" came about as a result of multiple grievances raised by members of the Sharad Pawar-led NCP faction, who alleged that the account was essentially a duplicate of the original "NCP Speaks" account.
On Wednesday, Ajit Pawar revealed that his uncle's faction had filed a complaint regarding the use of the same name for their X handle. The ongoing tension between the factions led by Sharad Pawar and Ajit Pawar has persisted since the latter's dramatic departure from his uncle's party in June this year. On July 2, Ajit Pawar was sworn in as the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra and aligned himself with the ruling BJP and Shiv Sena (Shinde faction).
This development coincided with an all-party meeting convened by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Monday, during which it was decided to grant reservations to the Maratha community and address other demands raised by the protestors.
"In the meeting, we have decided to give reservations to Marathas. The government is of the view to give reservations to the Marathas without touching the other (caste) reservations," Eknath Shinde said, as reported by NDTV
The meeting was convened in response to the protests and hunger strikes initiated by the Maratha community. Manoj Jarange Patil, who serves as a coordinator for the Maratha Morcha, had embarked on a hunger strike to advocate for reservations. It is highly probable that he will end his hunger strike, as the Maharashtra Chief Minister has consented to meet their demands.
The state government arrived at an agreement following lengthy discussions with Maratha community leaders. One of Manoj Jarange Patil's key demands was a modification of the ordinance pertaining to Maratha reservations issued by the state.
